My Rookery Project Great Blue Heron

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of the Rookery Project!
It was a great experience and I had fun meeting fellow artists as well as adding the the silhouette of this lovely Heron. I didn't know what to name him- I merely called it Great Blue Heron, maybe it should have been Bob, the Great Blue Heron Or Henry?
Henry works better Henry Heron.

Soundpod D2000 the Process...

Here we are with our sound pods testing unit , we validated noises and tested our charge from one solar cell (acquired from Goal Zero one of our Fantastic Sponsors.)
We also experimented with triggering delays and how much sound was possible before cacophony occurred.
All the sounds were recorded in Seattle and the surrounding forests, all local residents featured in this project.
For those local residents whom we couldn't get on our digital recorder this time we mimicked by slowing down the birds call and copying a much deeper voice at this slower rate  then bringing it back up to speed. This included  the Anna's Humming bird; who visits our feeders often but is elusive to film and recording.
The actual pod sits below the electronics board.

If interested some more images can be gleaned at:

The Soundpods installed complete with copper leaves, wings or feathers ....
depending on how you want to see it.so many organic resemblances could be made but you can make your own.

Soundscapes a plenty

recording swarms of midges in anacortes.
everytime i stuck my hand in they would shift making this irresisstable sound , impossible to capture.
still i tried.
they bounced off my hands and moved on til i harassed them again.

Labspace The Noise Project, Fun audio stomping grounds

Labspace studio out of Toronto is running a great collaborative effort called The Noise project.
It has been a great treat to go through the collaborators files and explorations.
Responses taking many forms and my gosh alot of people inspired with water based sounds (including myself.)
Please check it out at :http://thenoiseproject.net/challenges/
I love being spurred on to do something by this  voice that isn't my own.
I do have tremendous lists inside my own head of varying artistic nature, they become tedious without outside intervention.

also check out my attempts at entering back into sound explorations which I haven't done in some time tkidagee at noise project
The spring brings flowers and necessity for me as an artist to explore other avenues.
I feel like shedding this artists skin I have been wearing and go  wiggle around as a larvae somewhere. Time to experiment.

and this is as close as i got to being on a boat

hi honey i am on a boat.
well my shadow is.
on this particular day my daughter decided she wanted a boat , more like a yacht for what her specifications were, hot tub included although she is well prepared to flood the deck and  create a full boat hot tub situation so be warned.
she couldn't understand why no one else really needed to have a boat.
tim and i were nice with the kayak idea but in no way do i need a boat.
but she was on a roll that day and kept on and began becoming sorrowful the boat we would not have.
whats the joke whats the second best day for a boat owner ?
the day he sells his boat (or her boat) ok i am sure my delivery was a negative and my wording not quite spot on but you get the idea.
i am happy to visit boats take day trips , possibly stay on one a couple nights but i do not need to have a boat and would actually rather not.
thank you.
more pics can be seen at this life in ruins

Hi ! what are you up to? i am creating noise.

spring is here.
i hear it mostly in the birds .
and what a great time of year to participate in a noise challenge!
and who better to participate with then 200 other international artists up for some creative casual fun at the http://thenoiseproject.net/category/
This is being put together (many thanks for doing it!!) by Labspace in Toronto.
our first challenge was to find the pulse of our city spaces.
mine was a murder of crows defending from birds of prey.
that is what i choose to be surrounded by in my soundspace, the crows drown out the cars and the construction and its amazing to have that stuff disappear.
i am having fun someone else set me tasks for a change - they are way more gentle and kind then the tasks i would set myself.
i am moving into the desire to sound collage.
its all here i did have fun editing those crows ...
