Freeway Parthenon , Hay on Wye Literature Festival 2003

"Freeway Parthenon"
An exhibition Curated by Artist Holly De Las Casas for the 2003 Hay on Wye literature festival.
I had two pieces in this exhibition one a jackass penguin who lived in an erotic bookshop and the other textual intervention entitled "Pianist said quickly sounds like Penis" which lived in a Jazz record store, amongst the LPs.

Ex Nihilo - Spirits of Iron, Mt Rainer ,WA 2008

September 2008 - our first ever trip to Mt Rainer- it was fabulous and one of our top weeks.
Mt rainer making its first appearance as we leave vacinity
the Mountain was hidden from view most of the week - it dabbled in and out of vision when we visited and fell in love with Paradise in all it's September loveliness.

Here's a great Ex Nihilo Spirits of Iron sculpture park to visit if you are going to Mt rainer esp near Ashford area. we visited on way back.
this is the art of Dan Klennert.
These again are images lost in the caverns of digital storage that need to be here with the art and the installation and inspiration.

Journeying rattles

part art life part spiritual life here are the mid stages of the journeying rattles we are making. we have used a gluten free paper mache paste recipe due to celiac disease. the paste was used around small ballons that were then popped and it was filled with rice and home grown dried beans (the rice because it was in my pantry and i can't eat it soo bye bye rice.)

recipe as follows:
GF Papermache

1 part cornstarch
ten parts water put in pot heat on medium til it boils 5 minds hold at boil stir and then turn off and let cool
this makes a wicked paste that is better then the traditional paper mache mix in my mind a little slimier but i like slimey...

art and spirituality interweave on many levels and do so with this project.
hoping to help talula find her own spirituality and i myself feel more akin to the more shamanic activities of spiritual folk.
i believe my totem animals are birds of all sorts- it began with an eagle and has led to all of bird kind.
Talula wishes her totem animal to be a unicorn - i am sure we will have others as well, perchance a wolf or a dog.
i am hoping to work on these today and will update accordingly. and then i am sure i will have to work on us taking those journeys to the upper and lower worlds...
or maybe we just need to light a fire and dance round it shaking madly?
i am sure it will come when it is needed.

Just mucking around in the past through electronic means - explorations in my external hard drives...
obsessively fun ..
not sure as much fun as looking through books of photos though.
here's an oldy from Lullaby Moon performance in Gas Works Park back in 2010.
as well as a  skyline from the evening.

Penguins from the Past circa 2003

this is the process of making my jackass penguin who live some time in an erotic bookshop in wales....
yes and i think he liked it as well.go figure a penguin into human erotica?
well i never.
this is his beginning  in haverhill - yes where the pigs came into play as well penguins rose to live out there day...
he is a proportionally accurate jackass and he now lives above my fireplace a little less black and white then he used to be- as both colours fade to a grey in between the polarities of black and white.

Pigs in Zen

For awhile tim and  i lived in my sister in laws home- before she was my sister in law, in a place called haverhill.
her favorite animal , her mascot lets say is/was the pig.
for that time life had seemed to suddenly become pigcentric.
we visited piglets at a local farm, made pig masks and photographed them and then become utterly obsessed with this abandoned pig farm...
